WE SPEAK ABOUT LOVE WHEN WE ARE AFRAID OF LOVE
So many ways to speak about love, most of them useless.
The mouth is like a closing window. I speak
about love when love is a mosquito
I am trying to keep out of my house.
The mouth is a cage. I speak about love
when love is a lion I am trying to keep myself out of.
So many ways to speak.
Love is the ocean holding the salt.
Love is the lion opening itself
to the antelope. My mouth forms
a cave for me to hide in.
The mosquito is patient and clever. I see it
at the entrance to the cave, twinkling. It is
a star for me to swallow against
the darkness
of the vast internal night.
