AUTOIMMUNITY
after Abstract COVID-19 Self Portrait by Paul Feight
These are not mine
a swarm of eyes a storm of eyes
Explorer’s boot on a rock is a snapping snake
sunk in earth’s wrinkled flesh
My reflection pities me
dropped like pants on the floor
eyes in my mouth eyes in my nostrils
clinging to hairs eyes in my pores and lungs
Harsh light produces
~clown crayon colors~
If another human
saw my face
eyes in my eardrums, in filthy fingertips
Which revelation I already knew—
another human wrote my thoughts
He tells me Go west,
become the oil in oil fields
eyes in the valley of bad ideas
alighting on withered sins
Eyes in my visions, the harshest light bringing
~coronavirus corn children~
I create what I choose to see
therefore convicted by the unblinking
cannibalized, then discarded Who summoned them, who let them in?
